ARTWORK & DESIGN

Artwork and design for sportswear is the step that turns a logo folder into panels that can be printed, embroidered and sewn without surprises.

A crest that looks sharp on a letterhead can fail on a mesh jersey. Fine lines disappear in embroidery. Neon colours shift in sublimation. A sponsor stack that fits a website header may collide with a neck tape. Abijah Sports runs an artwork desk that thinks in pattern pieces, not in Instagram squares.

The job has two layers. First, technical cleanup: outlining fonts, checking contrast, setting number fonts that remain readable at a distance, and placing graphics so they survive cut lines. Second, communication: mockups that a coach or brand owner can approve without standing in the factory. Approval is written. Bulk follows that approval.

We work with clubs that send a PNG and a hope, and with brands that send full tech packs. Both are workable if someone converts the hope into a placement map. That conversion is this service.

What you receive

You receive mockups on the actual garment type — soccer jersey, basketball set, rash guard, jacket — not a generic t-shirt ghost. You receive a chance to move a crest before it is pressed into a hundred panels. You also receive a file set the print and embroidery stations can execute.

Good artwork reduces sampling cycles. A sample that fails because the number was 2 cm too low is an artwork failure, not a sewing failure. Catching it on a PDF is cheaper than catching it on a couriered sample, though we still recommend a physical sample for first programs.

A practical artwork sequence

  1. Collect logos, fonts, pantone or reference colours, and player data if names are required.
  2. Build placements on the pattern.
  3. Issue mockups for written approval.
  4. Release print-ready and embroidery-ready files to production.

If the decoration method is still open, artwork and method should be decided together. A detailed illustration may be perfect for sublimation and poor for embroidery. A one-colour crest may be stronger as thread on a jacket. We would rather tell you that early.

Where artwork is most sensitive

All-over kits — soccer, cycling, MMA — punish sloppy placement. American football and hockey numbers demand height and stroke width that remain legal and visible. Private label hang tags and neck rolls need type that is actually readable after weave or print.

Send files through the quote form or continue on WhatsApp with attachments. Do not upload marks you cannot license.

File hygiene that saves a week

Outline fonts. Embed or supply linked images at a usable resolution. Do not send a compressed screenshot of a screenshot. If a sponsor provided a lockup with a required clear space, include that rule. If a league bans certain placements, include that rule. We can place a crest anywhere a pattern allows; we cannot guess a rule you did not send.

Name files with style, view and date. “Final2-reallyfinal.ai” is how the wrong lion gets printed. We will use the file you mark as approved. Be cruel about that word.

Mockups versus photographs

A mockup is a decision tool. A photograph of a sewn sample is evidence. Do not treat the mockup as proof of shade or of how a mesh will reveal a body. Approve shade on cloth. Approve placement on the mockup and confirm it on the sample. Both steps exist because they catch different mistakes.

Continue into sublimation or embroidery once the file is honest. Or send the messy folder and ask us what is usable. That is a normal first message.

What a useful first artwork drop contains

A folder with the crest in vector form, any wordmarks, sponsor marks, a typed player list if names are required, and a note on forbidden placements. If you only have PNGs, send the largest ones and say so. We can rebuild some marks; we cannot invent a license you do not have.

Add one sentence about who approves. A coach, a board, and a sponsor contact are three clocks. We will not manage your politics, but we will wait for the name you designate. Name that person early so a sample is not held by a committee that was never on the thread.

Frequently asked questions

Vector logos (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) are preferred for crests. All-over prints can start from high-resolution layered files. We can rebuild rough sketches into production placements.

We develop production-ready placements and mockups. Brand strategy and original illustration beyond manufacturing artwork should be discussed per project.

Your supplied marks remain yours. Production placements we create for your order are used to manufacture your garments. Do not send marks you are not licensed to use.
